New Delhi : A total of 34 mini 5-kg LPG cooking gas cylinders are available to a consumer per year at subsidised rates, beyond which these have to be bought at the market price, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said Wednesday.
“Public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reported that they are already marketing subsidised 5kg cylinders up to 34 cylinders in a year per connection. Consumption beyond 34 cylinders in a year is at non-subsidised rate,” Pradhan told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
The 5kg subsidised LPG is available at the regular LPG distributors at Rs.155 per cylinder in Delhi, while the market priced cylinders at Rs.351 each are available at select petrol pumps.
The 14.2 kg cylinder costs Rs.417 in Delhi at the subsidised rate.
Pradhan also said that there was no proposal to remove the subsidy on 14.2 kg cylinders after the introduction of the mini-packs.
