Kolkata : Alleging a nexus between West Bengal’ ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP, the Left Front Thursday came down hard on Hindu nationalist groups like the Bajrang Dal for disrupting the country’s “communal harmony” and threatening foreign relations.
Addressing a rally here against the central government’s “anti-people policies”, Front Chairman Biman Bose said the Narendra Modi government was more focused at ensuring the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) flourished than bringing back the black money stashed in foreign tax havens.
“The RSS, Bajrang Dal and other outfits are disrupting communal harmony and are ruining India’s friendly relationship with other countries. Many Muslims were converted in Agra by these organisations with the lure of money and house,” Bose said at the rally.
“The BJP had talked a lot about bringing back all the black money to the country but after six months of the new government, they were more concentrating on increasing the number of branches of RSS and introducing Hindutva in education,” he said.
Bose also slammed the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government which had denied the Front permission to organise the rally at the Victoria House, where the BJP recently held a mass meeting addressed by its national president Amit Shah.
“No matter what the Trinamool says in the public but the fact is now in the open that it has a tacit understanding with the BJP,” Bose said.
There was also pushing and shoving among the Front activists and police during the rally.
“Under the instruction of the government, police till the last moment tried not to let us conduct this rally. They even baton charged, injuring two of our workers,” added Bose.
Leader of opposition and CPI-M politburo member Surjya Kanta Mishra said the state government was daydreaming of stopping the Left with barricades.
“This government should now understand that no barricades is strong enough to stop the Left. More and more people are leaving the Trinamool and soon there would be no existence of the party,” said Mishra.
Mishra also slammed the Modi government for its “anti-people policies” claiming they were identical to the erstwhile Congress led UPA government.
