New Delhi: Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar Academy (Regd.) conferred 26th Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar Award on Prof. Talat Ahmad in recognition of his contribution to the field of education. Prof. Talat Ahmad is a renowned Earth Scientist who earlier served as Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University and is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Prof. Talat Ahmad completed his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and went on to do post doctoral research stints with three foreign universities viz. University of Leicester, UK, under the Government of India Fellowship; University of Cambridge under NERC Fellowship and the Nagoya University, Japan.
Prof. Ahmad has the exceptional distinction of being a Fellow of all the Science Academies of the country: the Indian National Science Academy New Delhi; the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Ahmad has over 65 research publications to his credit. He has supervised several M.Phil. and Ph.D. research studies at the University of Delhi and the Research School of Earth Sciences, Australian National University, Canberra.
Prof. Talat Ahmad is a leading Earth Scientist who has been involved in studies related to aerosol and glacier studies in the Himalayas. He has academic collaborations with various universities in the US, Australia and Europe.
Prof. Talat Ahmad has initiated efforts to set-up a School of Earth Atmosphere and Planetary Sciences in Jamia Millia Islamia.
