Gurgaon : Haryana’s 15 gram panchayats, of which five are located in Gurgaon district, have been selected for Nirmal Gram Puraskar-2013 under the Swacch Bharat Mission.
The panchayats have been selected by the union ministry of drinking water and sanitation.
Overall, 587 gram panchayats from across the country have been selected under Swachh Bharat Mission for the Nirmal Gram Puraskar-2013, which would be awarded by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Talking about the awards, Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner T.L. Satya Prakash said that five gram panchayats have been selected from Gurgaon district. These are Bashariya, Dabuda and Dhanawas of Farrukhnagar block and Khanpur and Ransika of Pataudi block.
He said the survey of these gram panchayats was conducted by two teams of the central government and one team of state government.
The gram panchayats were selected for the awards for making proper arrangements for cleanliness in the villages.
