Congress President Sonia Gandhi laid down the foundation stone of AMU Kishanganj Centre in Chakla village of the district on January 30. Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Pallam Raju, Bihar Governor, Dr. D. Y. Patil, Bihar Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar and Bihar Minister of Education, P. K. Shahi was also present on the occasion.

Pervez Siddiqui, Secretary, Sir Syed Minority Foundation (SSMF) presented a memorandum to Sonia Gandhi for restoration of Minority Status of AMU. Mobashir, who is the Treasurer of the SSMF and was with Parvez at the programme, along with some other students.

Pervez Siddiqui told TCN that as the programme got over they were rounded up for raising the issue with Mrs Gandhi and beaten badly. He said that even he was hurt, along with five other of his friends. They all escaped, but Mobasshir was caught, and locked in a room.

In a written statement he said that he somehow he managed to escape from the confinement after about eight hours by jumping from the roof and later contacting few local friends.

Mobasshir has now submitted a written complaint at the Town Police station of Kishanganj demanding actions against those goons.

They suspect that those goons were Congress party workers, as they had party flags in hands and were in programme.
