Bangkok : Thailand’s caretaker government Tuesday approved a draft royal decree that sets the election of senators March 30, deputy spokeswoman said.
Sunisa Lertpakawat, deputy government spokeswoman, said registration of the senatorial candidates would be on March 4-8, the Bangkok Post reported.
The senate is the upper house of the National Assembly of Thailand. The senate, which comprises 150 seats, operates under fixed terms of six years.
The draft royal decree would be submitted to the king for endorsement, Sunisa said.
The election is expected to fill the seats of elected senators, whose term will expire March 31.
