Jammu : Former Indian Army chief V.K. Singh Thursday failed to appear before the privileges committee of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly that had summoned him to appear, sources said.
“The privileges committee has now issued fresh summons to the former army chief, V.K. Singh, through Haryana director general of police (DGP),” a source told IANS.
“The DGP has been asked to serve the summons to V.K. Singh, asking him to appear before the privileges committee January 22, 2014,” the source said.
The former Indian Army chief at present lives in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Singh ruffled the feathers of the political class last year when he claimed that mainstream politicians in Jammu and Kashmir had been beneficiaries of the army’s secret funds.
The privileges committee of the upper house of Jammu and Kashmir’s bicameral legislature had asked Singh to appear before its privileges committee Jan 9.
