Beirut : At least two people were killed and 15 others injured Thursday when a booby-trapped car exploded near an army barrack in the Lebanese city of Hermel in the eastern Bekaa region, a security source said.
The source told Xinhua that the vehicle was a Kia 4×4 and its explosion caused heavy material damage.
“Ambulances are evacuating the casualties from the explosion site,” the source said, noting the death toll could rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
Lebanese security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the blast and launched an investigation into the incident.
