BJP demands Bharti’s resignation, CWG probe against Dikshit

New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Delhi unit chief Vijay Goel Friday met Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to demand the resignation of Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti for his vigilante-style action against Ugandan women during a night raid in the capital.

“I met the LG and brought to his notice how, illegitimately, the Delhi law minister behaved with the Ugandan women,” Goel told mediapersons after coming out of Jung’s residence.

“The LG has assured the case registered against Somnath Bharti will be investigated and legal action taken,” added Goel.

Meanwhile, party leaders protested at 14 different places of the national capital during the day, demanding Bharti’s resignation.

Goel, during the meeting, also handed over evidence of the role of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit in graft in the run-up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The evidence consists of audit papers and other documents relating to the preparations for the Games.

“Now the Delhi chief minister will have to initiate an investigation at any cost against Dikshit as the documents we handed over to the LG are enough for an inquiry against her,” BJP media convenor Harish Khurana told IANS.
