Kabul : The Afghan government has tightened security to ensure safety of the people during the presidential runoff Saturday, media reported Friday.
In Kabul and other big cities, security personnel have been put on high alert, Xinhua reported.
The government has deployed police and army personnel on all roads, streets and in sensitive areas of the capital city Kabul to check anyone entering the capital city.
Taliban militants who had failed to disrupt the April 5 presidential elections once again vowed to derail the runoff set for Saturday.
Former foreign minister Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and the erstwhile finance minister Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai are in the run, and anyone who secures more votes than other will succeed the outgoing President Hamid Karzai.
