Urdu Girls High School Gaya celebrates golden jubilee

By Tameemuddin Humble, TwoCircles.net,

Gaya: Magadh University Vice Chancellor Dr Md. Ishtiaque made the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of “Urdu Girls High School Gaya”, a Bihar Government aided minority secondary school, an introspective not only for the school but for the community in the area.

He prompted the community leaders particularly the persons behind the affairs of any minority educational institution in the country to self analyse and do whatever they can to improve the conditions and advised not to be dependent much on the government aids. The VC exhorted the school committee to learn the lessons from the Christians and the Sikhs in running their institutions.

The VC felt pity for the school that even in its golden jubilee year the Urdu Girls High School did not have its own land and was running from a building constructed on the wakf land, though built by its own resources, dedicated to the another 100 year old institution—Madarsa Anwarul Uloom, one of the oldest institutions of Bihar which spared a small portion of land 50 years ago for the school till the institution imparts education in Urdu language. He asked that the community itself should come forward to manage its space crunch first then could be expected from the government.

The VC suggested the Urdu language to be the best medium of education but not to remain content with this only, which is also helpful in understanding our religious texts, and to join the mainstream by acquiring the other language skills to get modern education. The thoughts were expressed while he was delivering the presidential address on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of Urdu Girls High School Gaya, one of the first schools for girls belonging to the linguistic minorities in Bihar.
