Imphal: Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) felicitated 21 year old national body building title holder Md. Awaysh Khan at a function organized at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul in Imphal on March 8, 2014.
Md. Awaysh Khan stood 6th position in the All-India body building competition held at Taligoan, Pune, in Maharastra on February 21-22, 2014, organized by Indian Body Builders Federation. This is his first participation in a national level competition.
The felicitation function was attended by Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Haji Abdul Salam, Senior Consultant (Surgery) & Chairman of North-Eastern Para-Medical Nursing Institute Dr. Syed Burhanuddin, Social Worker O. Henry, Kamei Angam Romanus, IPS, and Manipur Nupi Marup Keithel Khwairamband Bazar Laishram Mema as Chief Guest, President and Guests of Honour respectively.
MCM presented gifts to Md. Alwaysh Khan appreciating his achievement. Speakers at the function hailed the achievement of Md. Awaysh Khan and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Addressing the gathering, newly elected Rajya Sabha MP of the State Haji Abdul Salam said Manipur is the power house of sports. The State has produced both national and international level players in different disciplines of sports. However, the Muslims in the State have not exploited their sporting talents fully. It is time that the Muslim youth take up sports seriously. Games and sports have not only given glory to the State, it has given job opportunities to the youth of the State. I hope Md. Awaysh Khan will inspire many young Muslims to body building and bring laurels for the State, he added.
Md. Awaysh Khan had recently participated in North-East body building competition recently at Hojai in Assam. He stood 5th position (70 Kg. above) in the Eastern India Body Building Competition organized by Hojai Body Building Association and lifted the Subash Chandra Bose Classic 2014 trophy.
Md. Awaysh Khan is a resident of Minuthong Golapati, in Imphal East District. He comes from a poor family. His father is an unemployed. Md. Awaysh Khan has cleared Matriculation Exam. He is continuing his studies. He is also preparing to participate in other national and international body building events. He is trained by Kishan at Kangleipak Fitness Centre, Singjamei, in Imphal.
