Russia sees global anti-terrorism coalition collapsed

Moscow: Russia believes the international Anti-Terrorism Coalition has collapsed, the secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha said Friday.

“The emergence of more and more organised, well-coordinated terrorists groups is the result of the actual disintegration of Anti-Terrorism Coalition,” Xinhua quoted Bordyuzha as saying.

Joint combat against the international terrorism that started following the terrorist attacks in the US in September 2001 has become past, as “personal ambitions of some leaders and group interests prevail now”, Interfax news agency quoted him as saying.

He stressed that the Anti-Terrorism Coalition cannot exist without cooperation between CSTO and NATO.

International extremists, including the ones coming from the CSTO countries, may come back and attempt to fight for their ” causes” with arms after receiving special training in Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq, Bordyuzha said.

In April, the CSTO suspended its contact with NATO over the two blocs’ confrontation around Ukraine. Bordyuzha said then that Russia and NATO had arrived at the state of “direct confrontation. ”
