New Delhi : Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu Friday appointed former managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Cooperation (DMRC) E. Sreedharan as a one-man committee to suggest proper procedures for accountability in all tendering processes which will be dealt at the operating levels.
In one of his maiden decisions as the new railway minister, Prabhu named the committee which will submit an interim report within two weeks and a final report within a period not exceeding three months.
“The committee would suggest the system and procedure and a manual of instructions to be followed to implement the railway minister’s decision speedily,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, Prabhu has emphassied that the essence of the decision behind appointing a one-man committee is to bring in efficiency, transparency, decentralisation in decision-making and expeditious implementation of railway projects.
