Islamabad : Pakistan’s Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the government is committed to settle all issues with the protesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to improve the country’s economy.
Iqbal said that sit-ins by volunteers and activists of the PTI, headed by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, badly affected the country’s economy as Chinese President Xi Jinping had cancelled his scheduled visit in September, Radio Pakistan reported Friday.
The cancelled Xi visit caused huge financial loss to the country as several agreements on mega projects of energy and other sectors were expected to be signed during his visit.
The minister urged all the political parties to show unity to resolve the issues being faced by the country.
Iqbal said that the PTI’s allegations of rigging in 2013 elections were baseless as the international community also appreciated the elections were fair, free and transparent.
