New Delhi: A court here awarded a 10-year jail term and also slapped a fine of Rs.1 lakh on a man who concealed his marriage and had sexual relations with a woman.
The court said the act by the convict was only to satisfy his lust and he did not have any care or concern for the victim’s emotions and sentiments.
Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhatt convicted Garvit Indora under various sections.
“In case of convict (Indora) herein, it is evident that he has been looking upon the prosecutrix (victim) only with sexual lust in his eyes without having any love, affection or concern for her in his mind,” the court said in its Oct 15 order.
The court opined that Indora did not deserve any mercy as he “proceeded to gain trust of victim and to have sexual relations with her by concealing from her that he is married.”
The court said that the victim was madly in love with the convict and is finding it difficult to come out of the relationship despite coming to know that she has been cheated by the convict and has no future with him.
The court held that “love” is a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, affection — unselfish, loyal and benevolent concern for the good of others.
According to the prosecution, both were acquainted with each other while coaching in an institute since 2011.
Indora was arrested in February this year after the woman alleged he had developed sexual relations with her on the false promise of marriage.
She told the police that on returning to Delhi she came to know through the accused’s friends that he already had a wife.
Feeling cheated, she lodged a complaint with the police.
