Lucknow : A rape accused’s sister was kidnapped and gang-raped by five men in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, police said Tuesday.
The victim’s brother was accused of raping a girl Aug 25, police said.
Villagers protested Monday night against the incident outside the Kakrauli police station in Muzaffarnagar.
On Sunday night, five men barged into the rape accused’s home and dragged his 16-year-old sister out of the house. They took her with them and allegedly gang-raped her. The girl was found Monday in Mirza Tilla.
BJP state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said this was a very serious crime as it was committed to avenge a similar crime.
“The party sees the incident as ominous for the already sensitive western Uttar Pradesh. The state government should act promptly and take stringent action against the perpetrators,” he told IANS.
Earlier, the accused brother was arrested after a girl complained against him. She had been found near Kumheda bridge in the area where she had gone to commit suicide after the rape.
Family members of the 16-year-old victim said police were not paying heed to their complaint. The victim’s mother has alleged that the five men who kidnapped her daughter were from another community. The girl has identified three of them as Gulzar, Guddu and Shahid.
The girl has been sent for a medical check up and action is being taken against the accused, police officer Kuldeep Kumar said.
