Police headquarters targeted in Turkey, attacker killed

Ankara: The police headquarters in the Turkish city of Istanbul was targeted by two attackers on Wednesday, and one of the attackers was killed, while the other was arrested, according to media reports.

The slain attacker was a woman, Xinhua reported, adding that two policemen were wounded in the incident.

Traffic was closed on Vatan Street, on which the Istanbul police headquarters is located, and ambulances were sent to the scene, reports said.

Turkey has seen a spate of attacks in the last two days.

Earlier on Wednesday, a gunman was detained after he occupied the building of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Istanbul and raised a flag with a sword figure from one of the windows of the building.

On Tuesday, Turkish prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz and two militants of the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) were killed during an operation by the Turkish special operation teams.
