Jahangirabad (Lucknow): Alumni of Jahangirabad Institute of Technology (JIT) were on cloud nine after receiving their degrees at the first graduation ceremony of the institute run by Jahangirabad Educational Trust (JET).
The Graduation ceremony was organized on November 28, Saturday at the picturesque JIT campus, situated at an old fortress in Barabanki, about 40 kilometres from Lucknow.
The graduation ceremony was presided by Manzoor Ghori, Chairman of Jahangirabad Educational Trust and Executive Director of US based Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC), the parent organization behind the institution.
Parliamentary secretary for Higher and Technical Education Government of Nagaland, Deo Nukhu was the chief guest of the event.
In his address Manzoor Ghori spoke on how the idea of establishing the institute for higher studies started 15 years back. “Lot of efforts need to be taken to make this institute one of the best colleges of India and eventually expand it into a University,” he said.
JIT is a ray of hope for the deprived section of the population at a time when higher education has become so expensive.
Chief Guest of the program Parliamentary Secretary for Higher and Technical Education Government of Nagaland, Deo Nukhu acknowledged the positive role being played by the institution in giving quality education to the poor students from far flung areas.
“The culture of JIT is very good. I am very happy to be the part of this event and delighted to have received warm welcome here,” said Deo Nukhu.
The Director of JIT Dr. K. M. Rafi thanked all the members of trust for their support.
“We always receive full support of members of trust. Without their support this thing could not have been possible,” he said, adding that the institute has truly come to reflect the unity in diversity of the country as they currently have students from 17 states across India.
After the concluding ceremony Chief Guest Deo Nukhu and Manzoor Ghori, Chairman, Jahangirabad Educational Trust inaugurated the solar car which was designed by JIT students.
Besides faculty members, staff and students, several other trustees of JET also attended the program.
Later in the evening a Mushaira was also organized at the venue where poets like Imran Pratapgarhi, Dr. Tariq Qamar, Dr. Umair Manzar, Ms. Urfi Ali, Zero Bandvi, Faiz Khumar, Gule Saba, Salman Zafar, Dr. Rajiv Raaj, Rahbar Tabani and Nazmi Gondvi recited their poems and couplets.
Jahangirabad Institute of Technology (JIT) under the umbrella of Jahangirabad Educational Trust Group of Institutions (JETGI) is promoted by a number of professionally successful Indians who are settled abroad and have come together to promote higher education with leadership skills to give back to the community through Indian Muslim Relief and Charities (IMRC).
Besides Engineering in Computer Science, Civil, Electronic, Electrical and Mechanical, JIT also offers MBA course. There is a separate Media Institute (JMI) that offers diploma and certificate courses in media and has the state of art studios and infrastructure.
