In less than a decade or so, things had changed. Things had changed too much. Relationships no longer means the world to the people.Technology had taken over their lives. It was this technology that had been successfull in destroying our relationships; indeed it was a parasite. They no longer took part in those interminable family discussions and those friendly debates because they were too busy having debates and discussions in the virtual world. This often resulted in wide gaps in between their relationships with one another. Modernism somehow proved to be unfaithful.
With the arrival of technology, they no longer made friends but were rather busy connecting to one another virtually. They thought that there was much pleasure in doing so but little did they know that they themselves were digging their own grave.
Yes, they were still busy, with their heads buried in their phone screens, squeezing out the last drop of data left. They were still not aware of the troubles that were yet to come. It was a matter of grave concern as this technology had managed to excise the humanity that once they possessed and with great pride. They had become selfish and self-centered and before they knew, karma took charge.
Then came the devastating flood which shook the nation. It was a malediction indeed. Technology no longer helped. Network was wiped out just like their homes.
They were cut off from the rest of the world.Their gadgets worked no more. The once faithful technology had backed out at the time of need.Technology, which was omnipresent a few hours back, was nowhere to be seen. They had lost all hope because they were too dependent on their gadgets and machinery for help. Google, which was once a messiah in disguise, could no longer help them out.
Then they recalled the tales of the lost world. The ones in which people helped each other and that they could count on one another anytime.
Some sort of naked agression could be seen in their eyes now. Their souls had been pricked and they covered under their sunburn as they realised their mistake. They had been busy updating themselves every minute about the happenings in the world but at the same time, were not aware of the scathing problems their counterparts were facing.
Without wasting time, they pulled themselves back together and got to work. Their ultimate aim was in their minds, peacefully occupying a corner; to make their homeland stand on its feet again. It was going to be very difficult as they had to start all the way from scratch. They volunteered and helped as much as they could. Their hard toil had paid-off. They were successful in providing relief to the displaced. They had now understood the real meaning of humanity. It meant something more than just simply sharing or liking those posts which required public attention.
They had found love again and this time it was not through the gadgets but the smiles of those whom they had stood for. They were now able to see a hundred and one emotions in each others’ eyes and everything seemed to be clearer( far more clear than their phone screens). They now valued lives more than money or anything else for that matter. Being human, they realised was far more important than anything else in the world. Technology had brought us closer to people far away from us but at the same time, drove us away from the ones near us. Technology had made humanity opaque but now we need not worry because we have found a way out.The fury of Mother Nature is enough to change our minds.
