Hyderabad : T. Rajaiah, who was sacked as deputy chief minister of Telangana two days ago, was Tuesday admitted to a hospital here after he complained of chest pain.
Rajaiah was taken to Apollo Hospital in Hyderguda around 6 p.m. after he complained of chest pain, family sources said.
According to hospital officials, he is undergoing treatment in intensive care unit. A team of cardiologists is attending on Rajaiah.
Doctors said Rajaiah was brought with high sugar and blood pressure levels. They described his condition as stable.
Activists of some Dalit organizations gathered outside the hospital, raising slogans against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for “humiliating” his deputy by unceremoniously sacking him.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader M. Narasimhulu, who reached the hospital, alleged Rajaiah suffered cardiac arrest due to the shocking treatment meted out to him by Chandrasekhar Rao.
Describing the sacking of Rajaiah as an insult to Dalits, especially to Madigas, the TDP leader demanded that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government be dismissed.
The chief minister had Sunday sacked Rajaiah, who was holding health portfolio, in the wake of corruption allegations against his office and also the alleged failure of the health department to check swine flu, which has so far claimed 25 lives in the state.
Chandrasekhar Rao inducted TRS MP Kadiam Srihari in the cabinet and appointed him deputy chief minister.
