TCN Impact: Maharashtra govt re-schedules Talathi exam date, Muslim youth relieved

Mumbai: Muslim youths aspiring for a government job in Maharashtra are now relieved after the government rescheduled the date for ‘Talathi’ examination that was earlier planned on the likely Eid-ul-Fitr day.

The Maharashtra State Revenue Department on Thursday issued a new circular declaring that the examination for ‘Talathi’ will now be held on September 13, 2015.

TwoCircles.net was the first to report on Tuesday how Muslim youths in Maha fume as government schedules ‘Talathi’ exam on Eid-Ul-Fitr day describing how Muslim youths in Maharashtra were unhappy with the state revenue department’s decision of holding written examination for the 900-odd posts of ‘Talathi’ on July 19, the date would likely correspond to the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

When TwoCircles.net had sought clarification from Madhav Veer – the official concerned, a deputy secretary in the Revenue Department – on the matter, he had not responded to the query. Incidentally, the Thursday’s government circular/notification has been signed by the same officer.

Veer has issued the letter informing respective district authorities across the state about the changed dates for the examination of ‘Talathi’ and ‘clerk’.

The aspiring youths from the community who were discontented over government choosing Eid day for written exam for the various posts of Talathis and had spoken with TCN have expressed happiness over the changed schedule.

“Thanks to TwoCircles.net for bringing out our concern, the state department has now rescheduled the exam date,” said Anees Khan.

Talathi-Exam-Date-Chenged

After the TCN report, some NGOs including Students Movement of India (SIO), had objected to the overlapping of exam with Eid and had written to the State Revenue Department and the Chief Minister to postpone examination date.

Advocate Waris Pathan, the MIM legislator, too had written to the Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse and CM Devendra Fadnavis saying that Muslim candidates will be inconvenienced if the examination was held on July 19.

The Maharashtra Revenue Department is to hold the examination for filling 887 talathi posts for all districts of Maharashtra. The Talathi recruitment 2015 notification was issued for following districts: Ahmednagar, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Beed, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Jalgaon, Jalna, Kolhapur, Latur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nanded, Nandurbar, Nashik, Osmanabad, Palghar, Parbhani, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg, Solapur, Thane, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
