Beijing: Over 7 million jobs were created in China’s urban areas in the first half of the year, authorities said on Friday.
The registered unemployment rate in urban areas stood at 4.04 percent by the end of June, edging down from the 4.05 percent in March, Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry of human resources and social security as saying.
The government aims to create at least 10 million new jobs in 2015 to keep the urban jobless rate below 4.5 percent, ministry spokesman Li Zhong said at a press conference.
