Panaji : Goa’s first woman chief minister Shashikala Kakodkar is being treated for swine flu, Health Minister Francis D’Souza said on Tuesday.
Kakodkar, 80, who served as chief minister of Goa in 1977, had already been admitted due to an illness at a city hospital when she was detected positive for swine flu.
“She was already admitted to hospital, when she was also diagnosed with swine flu,” said D’Souza, also a deputy chief minister. Three people have already died of swine flu over the last two-three days.
Kakodkar is the daughter of Goa’s first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar and headed the regional political outfiut, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
