New Delhi : About 100 women activists of the BJP on Tuesday staged a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house to raise the issue of an AAP volunteer asking party leader Kumar Vishwas to clarify their relation.
The protesters demanded Vishwas to appear before the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) which has issued a summons against him after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) woman volunteer approached it over the issue.
“We demand that Kumar Vishwas should appear before DCW and give his clarification on the issue. His silence over the matter is affecting life of the volunteer of his own party,” one of the protesters said.
“If there is nothing between them, then Vishwas should make it clear,” the protester added.
The AAP volunteer has asked Vishwas to come forward and clarify that there was no relationship between them. But she has not levelled any criminal allegation against Vishwas.
Demanding that Kejriwal pays heed to the case, BJP women activists accused him of turning a mute spectator despite the allegations being levelled against his party’s senior leader.
The AAP has already contested the allegations.
“The issue has been played up as if Kumar Vishwas has illicit relations with the woman. The woman herself has named four people for maligning her image on social media,” AAP leader Sanjay Singh told the media on Monday.
The woman had participated in Vishwas’ political campaign in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency during the 2014 elections.
