Greater Noida : Physical education students of Ryan International School were in for a shock when their results were withheld by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The CBSE Class 12 examinations results were declared two days ago.
On May 23, parents of 79 out of 100 students, mostly from the Science and Commerce streams, received a message from Ryan International principal Sudha Singh that the answer sheets of their wards’ Physical Education (PE) paper were not “traceable” at the CBSE.
Dscribing the entire incident as “surprising and shocking”, Singh told IANS that the CBSE message said the answer booklets were not traceable due to some error in “postal transit”.
While the answer sheets of 79 students went missing, the results of all the 100 PE students have been held.
“Had we known about this earlier, we would have had an option to re-conduct the examination. I have 100 PE students, and their results have been withheld,” the principal said.
The examination was held on March 30 at JP International School here. The CBSE declared the Class 12 results on May 25 at 12 p.m.
Singh said the CBSE had assured the school that the results would now be declared post-lunch on Wednesday.
“The results have still not been uploaded on the website. After we key in the codes and other details, all it shows is that the results would be declared later,” Bhavna Rabban, whose daughter Tanya appeared for the exam, told IANS on Wednesday.
According to the principal, the CBSE said it would give students marks based on the average of the best of three subjects, but the parents seemed unhappy.
“So, we have requested to the board to mark the students keeping in mind the general trend of marks scored in the subject. A lot of students opt for PE as they tend to score well in it,” Singh said.
