Muslim clerics and scholars appeal to collectively face challenges

At a two day convention held in New Delhi on October 3 and 4, Ulemas and scholars pondered over the current scenario in the country under the new Hindutva government and urged the community to put in serious and united efforts to tackle all challenges.

New Delhi: Ulemas and Muslim scholars called on to the community to collectively face the challenges the country is facing during a two day convention held in Okhla area of New Delhi on October 3 and 4. Days ahead are going to be difficult for the Muslims under the new Hindtuva government, and Muslims should put in serious and united efforts to tackle all challenges, underlines most of the community leaders.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the convention Maulana Salman Hussain Nadvi of Nadwa tul Uloom, Lucknow, stressed on the importance of organizing such event to unite the community on one platform and to make the leaders of the community realize the challenges. “There is urgent need to unite whole community in order to tackle hazardous situation of the country,” Nadvi said.

Maulana Tahir Madni, general secretary of Ulema Council and Nazim of Jamia tul Falah, a prominent madrasa in eastern Uttar Pradesh addressed the representatives of different organizations. “We are here to find practical ways to solve our problems not just to make speeches,” Madni told in a firm voice. “When we return, there should be a blueprint in our mind to overcome our problems,” he added.

Zafarul Islam Khan, President of All India Majlis e Mushawarat, also graced the convention on the last day. Speaking to the audience, he urged to concentrate on solving the problems within the community instead of just blaming others for every problem. “There are two kinds of problems, external and internal, we should focus on internal but not to ignore external one as atmosphere very dangerous in our country,” Khan said. “The seen problems and plans created by Hindutva forces against Muslims are much less than unseen,”he warned.

Maulana Sajjad Nomani of All India Muslim Personal Law Board shared his thoughts in detail. Referring to the campaign launched by AIMPLB, ‘Deen Bachao Dastoor Bachao’(save the religion save the constitution), he said, “We have launched this campaign, keeping in mind currant dangerous situation, as now it is not just about the violation of our rights but also the question of our faith.”

“Board has taken a bold decision to protect the faith and we are getting large support from other communities as well,” Maulana Nomani said.

Maulana Ataur Rahman Wajdi, Ameer Wahdat-e-Islami chaired the last session of the convention. In his concluding remarks he appealed to the representatives to take this message to the people and make them aware about the responsibilities that lie upon them in current situation. “It is first of its kind efforts to unite leadership of Muslims in order to make them aware their responsibilities in this dangerous situation,” Wajdi added.

The convention was called by 10 prominent Ulema and Muslim scholars who are associated with different organizations across the country: Maulana Salman Hussaini of Nadwa tul Uloom Lucknow , Maulana Muhammad Sufiyan Qasmi , Rector (Muhtamim) Darul Uloom( waqf) Deoband, Advocate Abdur Raheem Quiraishi of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Muhammad saidi , Manager(Nazim) Mazahirul Uloom waqf Saharanpur , Maulana Abu Zafar Hassan Azhari of Mumbai, Maulana Syed Muhammad Nasir Fakhri , Custodian of khanqah-e- Fakhri in Allahabad , Mufti Abdullah Patel of Surat , Gujarat , Maulana Tahir Madni , Nazim Jamia tul Falah Azamgarh, Qari Mueenuddin , Chairman Azmat-e- Rasool Foundation Jaipur and Maulana Ataur Rahman Wajdi, Ameer Wahdat-e- Islami Saharanpur.

At the end of convention a brief message for the whole community was also finalized with the consent of all representatives. This message includes standing against all Hindutva cultural phenomena like Surya Namaskar, yoga etc. It also reads that all sects, institutions and organizations should come together to cope up with challenges faced by the community in today India.
