Mumbai: Markazul Ma’arif Education & Research Centre (MMERC), the unique institution that teaches English language and modern communication skill to fresh madrassa graduates conducted convocation and elocution programs here at its centre located in Jogeshwari West.
Both the programs were held in succession on Sunday where dignitaries distributed trophies and certificates to the students.
Sudents completed six year Diniyat course
In first session elocution competition was held among ulama who are doing Diploma in English Language and literature (DELL). And in second session the annual function of the six year Diniyat course, was conducted among school- going children.
Maulana Atiqur Rahman Qasmi, the branch in charge MMERC Mumbai, presented a brief introduction of this organization before audience and told that, specially, charitable and educational works are performed under this esteemed organization in northeastern India, on a large scale.

Maulana Burhanuddin Qasmi, the director of MMERC, announced the name of the first, second and third position holders and these winners were rewarded with shining trophies and certificates by ulama and city elders.
During the first session, MMERC’s DELL students showed their oratorical skills in English language where Asif Mehtar Makda, Muhammad Aiyyub and Muhammad Rashid achieved first, second and third positions respectively out of eight selected students from the elimination round and rewarded with valuable prizes by the president of the program, Mufti Azizur Rahman Fatehpuri.
Maulana Burhanuddin Qasmi admired the tireless work of Maktab course supervisor, Maulana Shahid Qasmi, and other teachers, Qari Shamshad and Qari Abdul Ghani. He also thanked the audience for giving a patient hearing to the children’s efforts and expressed his best wishes for those who completed the course.

Maulana Muddassir Ahmad Qasmi, the national coordinator of DELL course said that Markazul Ma’arif and its other seven affiliated institutes organize three in-house elocution completions to enhance the oratorical skills of the ulama and make them world level speakers. In addition to this, a national competition is conducted annually in which three best speakers participate from each branch.
MMERC was established in 1994 by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal who is an eminent Islamic scholar and a present Lok Sabha MP. The centre was established with the itention to prepare the madrassa graduates with good English and communication skills so that they can meet modern needs and play a more influential role in society.
Presently Markazul Ma’arif runs 23 colleges, 22 schools, 6 orphanages, 5 hospitals and 583 Maktab classes under the patronage of Maulana Badruddin Ajmal.
