Dammam: Remembering Mahatma Gandhi on his 68th death anniversary, Indian Social Forum has called upon Indian youths to work towards preventing principles of Gandhi and to fulfill his dream of comprehensive welfare state.
Indian Social Forum (ISF) is an independent organization of the Indian Diaspora that works for their well-being through social welfare activities. The forum works with the vision to enlighten the Indian expatriates on the importance of unity and to encourage them to contribute in the nation building process.
The Karnataka Chapter of ISF said fascist forces assassinated Mahathma Gandi on January, 30, 1948 and since then it has been constantly killing Gandhism that resulted into rising of intolerance incidences in the society such as killing of Dabholkar, Kulburgi and Vemula.
Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation and proponent of secular values was killed by Nathuram Godse and this assassination, ISF alleges, “was the part of removing the secular values by the traitors”.
ISF also condemned the demand from Hindutva outfits to build statue of Godse and termed it to be biggest threat to sovereignty of the country.
“Indian community should really fight against these traitors and by this way we can really celebrate Gandhi’s birthday”, ISF opined.
It also criticized government from deviating from Gandhi’s empowerment proposal that included development of farmers, villages, minorities, dalits and poor people of India and alleged that today development projects are being implemented in favor of capitalists and corporate companies.
It also insisted that a real respect may be paid to Gandhi only by repeating his struggle to save country’s democratic system.
