New Delhi : Five persons, including a Delhi University student and an employee of a businessman, were arrested for robbing Rs 33 lakh here at Vikas Marg, in east Delhi, Police said on Monday.

Police have recovered Rs 33 lakh and a motorcycle used in the crime from those arrested.
Police said Devender, an employee of a businessman, worked in Gandhi Nagar, had lodged a complaint with the police that he was robbed of Rs 33 lakh by two bike-borne persons at Vikas Marg on Friday night when he came to hand over the cash to a businessman along with his colleague, Neeraj.
A case in this connection was registered at Shakarpur Police Station on the complaint of Devender.
“During investigation, Devender came under suspicion for changing his statements many times. Later, after sustained interrogation, he confessed that he had made a plan last month to rob his employer’s cash with the help of his associates,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rishipal said.
Police said when Neeraj received a sum of Rs 33 lakh from a businessman in Karol Bagh, Devender, as per his plan, conveyed his location to Mohan and Harsheet. They followed him on a motorcycle and snatched the cash bag from Neeraj, while Devender was driving another motorcycle on Vikas Marg.
Their other accomplice, Shahid, who snatched the money is absconding, police said.
