With an aim to increase the Muslim representation in civil services, a Pune based NGO-Concern for People Trust Academy-held an awareness programme on October 22 at Phadkule Hall, Solapur in association with AMP (Association of Muslim Professionals) and FAME (Federation of all Minorities Organisation).
As a part of this measure, the NGO will conduct a qualifying exam in February 2017 to select 50 aspiring students. The organisers said that the top 10 candidates selected in the exam will get 100% scholarship, while the next 15 will bag 50% scholarship. The following 15 will be eligible for 35% scholarship for the coaching period of one year at the training academy in Pune. The scholarship amount includes tuition fees, lodging and boarding charges.
The function was inaugurated by Noor Maldar, Vice Chancellor, Solapur University) and presided over by FAME president Zahid Ali khan. A J Khan (IRS retired) N.M Nadaf (Admiral, retired) Imtiyaz Mulla, Iqbal Sheikh were the other guests. Representatives of the said associations Shafi Chobdar and Shoaib Sayeed were also present.
Addressing the gathering,N.M Nadaf, Director of the Academy, highlighted the importance of civil and defense services and explained the qualities which are most essential to crack such exams.
While speaking with Twocircles.net, Suhel Sheikh, president of the NGO said, “We have been financially assisting bright students since the last five years. Presently three students are undergoing training under the supervision of our academy. We have very good team of expert professionals .This year we have planned to do the same for at least 50 aspirants through scholarship written exam, group discussion and personal interview.”
Sheikh said that as part of the drive to bring efficient and talented youths under one roof, they had conducted two presentations in Osmanabad and Solapur until now. “We will conduct nearly 20 presentations in other cities of Maharashtra and Karnataka with the cooperation of local NGOs,” he added.
One of the guests and a guide of the competitive exams, Asif Yatnal lauded this initiative and said that it was good to see highly qualified professionals coming forward for the cause of community’s educational welfare. “Our Students have much potential if the participation increases then the overall percentage of us in civil services will surely catch the exciting figure,” he added.
