Lucknow : Political parties in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday extended their support to the surgical strikes by the Indian Army on terrorist launchpads in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Uttar Pradesh Congress unit chief Raj Babbar said his party saluted the Indian Army for the surgical strikes and expressed hope that Pakistan would now mend its ways and stop supporting and patronising terror groups.
He congratulated the army personnel, saying their act of valour had reassured the people of the nation against terror threats from its neighbourhood.
Samajwadi Party (SP) spokesman Ashok Bajpayi also congratulated the armed forces for the surgical strikes and said the country was for very long looking for such action against people and groups sending terrorists to India.
“People expected such an action and were waiting for it for a long time and after the attack on the Uri army camp some time back. The patience of the people had run out,” he added.
SP chief Mulayam Singh complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi for okaying the action by the army. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav did not issue any statement with regards to the army action across the LoC.
