Iftar Programme with Domestic Workers

TCN News

Khudai Khidmatgar organisation organised Iftar for domestic workers on 8th May, the 2nd roza of Ramadan at ‘Sabka Ghar’.

Khudai Khidmatgar meaning ‘servants of God’ a non-violent movement against the British empire was started in 1929 by Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. Now it is an organisation committed to work towards justice, peace and democracy through communal harmony and upliftment of the poor.

Khudai Khidmatgar also works with un organised workers especially the Domestic workers, Rag Pickers and the Rikshaw Pullers. Domestic workers in the community are never involved in social events with respect and hope. So Khudai Khidmatgars took this initiative and organised an Iftar program for these women who after finishing their routine works in several households also find time to participate in the activities of Khudai Khidmatgars and are connected with them.

Khudai Khidmatgar promotes the culture of conducting the Iftar to connect with all the people in the society, especially with the Workers living in slums.

After this, they have plans to organise similar Iftar Programmes with the Rag Pickers and Rikshaw Pullers at Sabka Ghar, in the upcoming days during the month of Ramzan.
