Bhopal: A heart-wrenching incident from the Madhya Pradesh capital of Bhopal has gone viral. It sheds light on alleged medical negligence and disturbing behaviour at a private hospital. An elderly Muslim patient was allegedly denied treatment and tragically passed away while being transferred to another facility.

The incident was captured in a viral video showing a woman, presumably a hospital staff member, speaking aggressively. In the purported video, she can be seen threatening the patient’s son. She says, “Yahin gaadh dungi” (I will bury you here only), and demands that another person stop recording. She orders security to seize the phone and accuses the patient’s son of trying to coerce her into a religious conversion. “This Maulana is telling me that you are a Hindu girl, you will have to change your religion,” she can be heard saying in the viral video.

The patient’s son in response calmly explains, “We came here for the treatment of our father. But this madam refused to provide any information and instead started threatening me with false accusations of religious conversion. I asked her for the phone number of the hospital owner, to which she replied, ‘I am the owner of the hospital’.”

The video captures the tense exchange between the man and the woman, with another individual urging the patient’s son to leave.

Family’s Account of the Incident

Muhammad Basit, the son of the deceased, Nasir Miyan (also known as Baadshah Miyan), recounted the horror. “This is a clear case of negligence by the hospital staff and the doctor,” he said. “They became aggressive when we asked for information about my father’s treatment. We were threatened with being framed for religious conversion, which is a complete lie. We never said anything of the sort.”

Basit further explained that on November 18, his younger brother brought their father to the ABM Hospital in Bhopal, where an ECG was performed. The family was then allegedly told to seek treatment elsewhere. In response, they attempted to transfer Nasir Miyan to Chirayu Hospital, but during the journey, he passed away due to an attack.

Basit continued, “On November 20, when I went to ABM to inquire why my father was not treated, Dr Sonali Chouksey raised her voice and yelled at me. I asked if at least an ambulance could have been arranged since they could not provide treatment. My father would have still been alive if they had given us an ambulance.”

He claims that instead of providing a response, Dr Chouksey falsely accused him of harassing her and threatened to file a case against him.

Lack of Govt Support

When asked if the family had received any assistance from government authorities, Basit expressed frustration, “No one from the health department has contacted us. We have no hope of receiving any help or justice from the authorities.”

In the wake of the incident, efforts to contact doctors at ABM Hospital went unanswered, and the available phone numbers were either switched off or ignored.

The family remains in mourning, while questions about the hospital’s alleged negligence and the treatment of patients remain unanswered.
