Chandigarh : The electricity meter readers in Delhi’s suburb Gurgaon will now prepare the bill on the spot and the consumers will be able to immediately pay by cheque, an official said Wednesday.
The Southern Haryana Electricity distribution agency decided to introduce the unique spot billing system in Gurgaon to minimize complaints.
“We are introducing this system to minimize complaints of wrong billing, faulty distribution of bills and to avoid standing in queues for submitting the bill amount,” said a spokesperson of the agency here Wednesday.
The spot billing system would start in few parts of Gurgaon from Sep 1, the spokesperson said.
He said the meter readers could now generate the electricity bills at the spot in the presence of the consumer.
They will use an electronic machine, in which the meter reader will feed the reading of the meter. On giving the command of printing, the machine will generate the electricity bill which will be handed over to the consumer.
The spokesperson said the consumers could also make payment of the bill by cheque to the meter reader at the same time. Members of Haryana ex-services league do the work of meter reading, bill distribution and cash collection.
