Casualties of Egypt’s rockslide claim to 63 dead, 58 injured

By NNN-KUNA,

Cairo : The number of casualties of the rockslide of Al-Moqattam hill in eastern Cairo topped 63 dead and 58 wounded people, Egypt’s state-run TV reported on Wednesday.

A 15-year old girl has been unearthed alive today, four days after the disaster took place on Saturday, according to the report.

Prospects of finding survivors are diminishing.

Yet, rescue teams of the civil defense and the Armed Forces Corps of Engineers are still sifting through heaps of wreckage of the thunderous rockslide which rocked the slum area of Al-Doweika, east Cairo.

A technical toolkit, consisting of geologists, has been formed to probe the causes of the catastrophe in cooperation with the prosecutors.
