Jet to start daily flights between Kerala, Muscat

Thiruvananthapuram : Come Monday, Jet Airways will become the first private airline in the country to operate flights from all the three international airports in Kerala, when it begins daily flights to Muscat.

A top airline official told IANS that state education minister M.A. Baby will be the guest of honour at the Thiruvananthapuram airport at the function to mark the inaugural flight Sep 15.

Currently, the airline operates daily flight to Doha from Kozhikode, and four daily flights from Kochi to Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat and Doha.

Jet decided to operate on the Thiruvananthapuram-Muscat sector after withdrawing the daily flight from Kozhikode to the Oman capital.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft to Muscat will have 16 seats in the business class and 124 in the economy class.

The flight will leave here daily at 7.55 a.m. and reach Muscat at 10.30 a.m. On the return leg, it will depart Muscat at 00.30 a.m. and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram at 5.35 a.m.

Muscat is home to close to half a million Malayalis.

“We are soon coming with flights to Dubai and to Saudi Arabia also,” said a Jet official who did not wish to be identified.
