Mumbai : Indian equity markets crashed immediately after opening Monday. The Sensex was 562.35 points below its previous close 10 minutes after opening, while the Nifty was down 189.85 points.
The Sensex, the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, opened at 13,666.28 points, already 334.53 points below last Friday’s closing figure. Within 10 minutes, it fell to 13,438.46, 562.35 points or 4.02 percent below its previous close.
At the same time, the broader-based S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was at 4,038.60 points, 189.85 points or 4.29 percent below its previous close.
