Udhav Thackeray attacks union ministers at Dassehra rally

Mumbai : Shiv Sena executive president Udhav Thackeray Thursday castigated Maharashtrian ministers in the union cabinet Sharad Pawar, Shivraj Patil and Sushilkumar Shinde for ignoring the state’s interests and enjoying ministerial perks.

Addressing his maiden rally at the historic Shivaji Paik – from where his father, Sena chief Bal Thackeray has spoken since the past 43 years at the annual Dassehra Shiv Sena rally – Udhav said he felt “ashamed” of calling Pawar, Patil and Shinde as Marathis due to their utter lack of concern over issues concerning the state.

Thackeray also touched on a variety of issues concerning the state and the Marathi people who have been under attack in recent times.

“To all those who ask – Mumbai belongs to whose father? – I say, it belongs to our fathers,” he thundered, amidst huge applause.

“I dare all such persons, go to Kolkata, or Chennai or Hyderabad and ask the same question there and see the reaction. Everybody has taken the Marathis for granted. Not anymore. Marathi and Maharashtrians must be respected,” he maintained.
