Terrorism; Kerala state CM concern over ‘exaggerated accounts’

By NNN-PTI,

Thiruvananthapuram, India : Expressing concern over the “exaggerated accounts” appearing in the media about terrorist links in Kerala state, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan urged the fourth estate to refrain from putting out “factually incorrect and baseless reports.”

Some of the stories carried by the media created an impression that the state was facing a serious terrorist threat, which was far from true, Achuthanandan told reporters here on Wednesday.

Such reports even tended to blow up the situation by claiming that they were based on documents filed in the court by police in connection with the arrest of some persons for their suspected links with terrorist outfits, he said.

He also said it was wrong to blame any particular community for terrorism since those involved in such nefarious activities were attracted by monetary considerations.

Rejecting the opposition UDF’s demand for a white paper on the situation, he said the state police and its intelligence wing had taken strong and foolproof measures against terrorism.
