Lucknow : A criminal case has been slapped against two men in the Lakhimpur Kheri district for allegedly using abusive and derogatory language against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and a Dalit, officials said here Monday.
The incident was reported Sunday when the complainant, Shriram Gautam, went to collect fertilisers from the Aurangbad village depot of the state-owned Fertilisers Cooperative Committee in the district, 124 km from state capital Lucknow.
“Gautam has alleged that the secretary of the cooperative committee, A.K. Tripathi, refused to give him fertiliser claiming that it is out of stock. However, Gautam said he saw Tripathi’s friend, Sanjay, was loading fertiliser on his tractor and when he pointed it out, the duo abused him and used casteist remarks against him,” superintendent of police Ram Bharose told IANS by telephone.
They also used the same language for the chief minister, Gautam alleged.
“We have lodged a case against the duo today under various sections of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Act and the matter is being investigated,” added Bharose.
No arrests have been made so far.
