New Delhi : The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body of India’s ruling Congress party, has expressed serious concern over the Mumbai terrorist strikes.
At a Saturday night meeting chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, disturbed members demanded exemplary steps to check recurrence of similar attacks and to restore public confidence in the government.
A party leader said some members demanded the replacement of Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who has been widely criticised for his poor handling of the crucial ministry that he heads.
At least 183 people were killed as terrorists went on a killing spree in Mumbai over three days after landing on the coast, apparently from Pakistan, Wednesday night.
