Death toll in Peshawar blast rises to 30, 140 wounded

By KUNA,

Islamabad : The death toll in Friday evening’s car-bomb explosion in the northern Pakistani city of Peshawar has risen to 30, while nearly 140 were wounded, according to local authorities on Saturday.

A van parked in a lane outside the hotel in the congested locality of Kocha Risaldar near Qissa Khwani Bazaar of Peshawar, capital of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), exploded Friday evening.

The great explosion caused a huge fire that engulfed scores of buildings in the narrow streets, making it difficult for rescue workers to move the injured and bodies trapped inside.

The explosion killed near 30 people, including women and children, and wounded over 140 others.
