Militants attack NATO supplies in NW Pakistan

By Xinhua,

Islamabad : Suspected militants early Sunday attacked trucks and tankers supplying fuel and food to foreign forces in Afghanistan, destroying 30 tankers and killing a guard.

All trucks and oil tankers caught fire and fire fighters were called but most of the vehicles and supplies were destroyed when militants attacked them at a terminal in Peshawar, capital city of North West Frontier Province, the News Network International (NNI)news agency reported.

The militants fired rockets on trucks at the terminal called “Al-Faisal Terminal” located in the outskirts of Peshawar, said the report, adding that huge flames were seen and the explosions woke up the people in the nearby area.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Last month, Pakistan stopped container trucks and oil tankers bound for the United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO) troops in Afghanistan after militants hijacked several vehicles on the main highway between Pakistan and Afghanistan, according to the NNI.

Militants regularly attack and hijack NATO supplies vehicles which are set to cross Torkham, the main crossing point on the Afghan-Pakistani border.
