Hyderabad : The Adilabad district police has exposed and foiled a conspiracy to trigger communal riots by arresting a army Jawan Suresh Waghmare from Military Area of Secunderabad. Chandra Rao, the district superintendent of police, Nirmal said that Suresh has been arrested in connection with an incident in Tanur village near Bhainsa earlier this week in which four legs of a bull were found hanging at the main entrance of temple.
He said that in a deliberate attempt to create communal trouble, Suresh Waghmare had put the legs of the animal at the temple entrance in the wee hours of Tuesday coinciding with the Muslim festial of Idul Azha.
However nipping the trouble in the bud, the police made heavy security arrangements in the village and imposed section 144. During the subsequent investigations, the dog squad led the police to the doors of Suresh Waghmare. The police recovered the remaining parts of the rope which was used in tying the legs of the animal to temple’s gate.
Chandra Rao said that Suresh had come to the village a day before the incident but went back to his headquarters. His father Gangadhar was also missing from the village.
Tanur was among the villages affected by the communal violence in Bhaina in October last. The police sources said that they were investigating whether Suresh Waghmare was involved in the earlier incident of communal violence in the area.
The police have booked criminal case under various section including 295A and 153 A against Waghmare. The police arrested him just before he was to leave for Punjab where he was recently transferred.
Meanwhile even two months after the riots, Bhainsa continues to witness sporadic incidents of violence. In an apparent attempt to vitiate the communal atmosphere in the area miscreant burnt a Pan Shop in the town two days ago.
