Bihar Govt. to build memorials in honour of 3 Muslim leaders

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna yesterday laid foundation stone of three buildings to be constructed in the memories of three noted late Muslim leaders: Maulana Mazharul Haque, Abdul Qayyum Ansari and Ghulam Sarwar.

The building adjacent to the Haj Bhavan for which foundation was laid by chief minister, will have two memorial buildings in the name of Abdul Qaiyyum Ansari and Ghulam Sarwar and an auditorium in memory of Maulana Mazharul Haq.

At the foundation laying ceremony Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said the total estimated budget for the buildings is Rs 12.75 crore and the government has already sanctioned Rs 7.50 crore.

The buildings in its miniature model looks like a palace from the Era of Ottoman Empire. There will be three domes and will have a constructed area of 32,000 sq feet. It will be two buildings and one auditorium. Maulana Mazharul Haq Auditorium will be centrally air-conditioned with a seating capacity of 300 and will also have a modern stage. Ansari memorial building will house a computer training centre, offices of minority commission and 15-point programme committee. Sarwar memorial building will consist of an exhibition hall, Urdu library and office of Urdu advisory board.

Dignitaries present on the occasion were principal secretary, home and minority welfare, Afzal Amanullah, science and technology minister Shahid Ali Khan, Amir-e-Shariat Maulana Syed Nizamuddin, Maulana Shamim Munami, Maulana Minhajuddin, Amanat Husain, Mohd Irshadullah and Ejaz Ahmad.
