New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said violence against those who promote pub culture in India was unjustified.
“If you say that India should have pubs everywhere, it is your opinion. If somebody thinks that the Indian culture did not permit this and people should not drink, it is his or her personal opinion. This is no big deal,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shanker Prasad told IANS.
“But this does not mean there is any justification for violence. All our senior leaders have said it clearly,” he said.
The debate over pub culture in India has been triggered after activists of Sri Rama Sena, a self-styled moral brigade, attacked some young men and women in a Mangalore pub last week.
