New Delhi : Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s clinical condition has shown improvement and his medical tests are normal, a hospital official said Thursday.
Vajpayee, 85, was admitted to the VIP Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he complained of difficulty in breathing Tuesday night.
The BJP’s senior leader L.K. Advani and some others met Vajpayee during the day. Advani was deputy prime minister in Vajpayee’s cabinet.
“Advani and other BJP leaders met Vajpayee during the day,” AIIMS Medical Superintendent D.K. Sharma told IANS.
“There is improvement in Vajpayee’s clinical condition. He has no fever and the lower respiratory tract infection is better. He will stay in VIP ICU as of now and any decision to shift him to another place would be taken by the team of doctors monitoring him,” Sharma said.
A multi-disciplinary team of doctors led by Randeep Guleria, his personal physician and head of medicine at AIIMS, is monitoring Vajpayee.
“Vajpayee is non-diabetic and has no hypertension. The medical reports of his blood, liver and kidney tests are normal,” Sharma said.
Vajpayee will be staying in hospital for a few more days, his doctors said.
