Noida : The twenty-something victim of an MMS scandal, that has her striping on camera, Thursday said she was cheated, threatened and blackmailed by her boyfriend, who circulated the video because she refused to continue her relationship with him.
The victim, reportedly a management student in a Noida college, in an interview to a news channel said her boyfriend Shaan Bawa threatened her and then circulated the video as she broke off her relationship with him.
The girl said she and Bawa studied in the same college and were in a relationship for a year.
“When I told him that my father was unhappy with our relationship and that I won’t be able to continue it, he first abused me and then said that my father would die within two days. He asked me to maintain normal relations with him,” the victim said.
“He would call and threaten me. Initially, he would be polite, then he would turn abusive. I started avoiding his calls. In a state of desperation, he asked me to have relation with him just for one year till the end of our management course,” she said.
“I even talked to his father Sanju Bawa, a businessman in Kolkata, but he also did not listen to me and threatened me not to pursue his son,” the victim said in course of a 20-minute interview.
She said the video was filmed last year when she had gone to meet Bawa.
“Later, he told me that he has my sex video and that he would circulate it If I do not continue seeing him.”
“He had sent me the last mail on Feb 7, threatening to circulate the video and my clippings in public,” the victim said.
“I had complained to the cyber crime cell in June 2008, and then to the police in August but no action was taken,” she said.
Noida police official categorically denied that they had received any complaint from the victim.
“We have not received any official complaint from any college or from the girl’s parents in this regard,” a police official said.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the college, where the two students are reportedly studying, maintained that they were still verifying if the girl was a student in their college.
“We have a huge strength of management students. We are still seeking information from the respective department heads if the student was one of ours,” the spokesperson of the institute said.
