JP Hydro violates environmental laws in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla : The Himachal Pradesh government has detected five cases of environmental violations by Jai Parkash Hydro Power and action is being taken against the power generation major, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said here Friday.

The government would not allow the company to illegally dump sludge along a key highway, he added.

“We would not allow illegal dumping of muck along the National Highway 22. A three-member committee has been constituted by the pollution control board for rectification and mitigation of issues related to stone crushing and muck disposal,” Dhumal told the state assembly.

JP Hydro is executing a mega hydroelectric power project at Kinnaur district.
